RCX Pallet Automation for Robotic Tending

Achieve standardized CNC mill tending with the AWR Flex Series RCX Pallet, ideal for shops with palletized workflows that demand repeatable part presentation. The RCX Pallet delivers stable, palletized production across every shift, enabling reliable, lights-out machining and predictable output you can count on.

What Is Flex Series RCX Pallet?

Flex Series RCX Pallet is a pallet-based CNC mill tending solution built for manufacturers who prioritize repeatability, consistency, and unattended operation over re-gripping flexibility.

Instead of gripping raw parts directly, RCX Pallet automates the loading and unloading of palletized workholding, making it perfect for manufacturers who rely on fixed part orientation, proven fixturing methods, and predictable setups. The RCX offers two types of mill tending pallets: Omni Pallet and Pallet Cleat. Both options automate pallet transfers while maintaining fixed part orientation for consistent machining.

Understanding Which Pallet Solution Works Best for You

Which RCX Pallet option is the right fit for my shop? The right RCX Pallet configuration depends on how your parts are fixtured and the level of flexibility, repeatability, or customization your workflow requires. Both options - Omni and Pallet Cleat - support CNC mill tending, but the difference is how the part is mounted and standardized on the pallet.
When should I use the Omni Pallet?

Choose the Omni Pallet when you need maximum flexibility in how parts are mounted or fixtured to fit your demands.

  • Production requires a blank-canvas pallet that can be machined into or adapted for custom fixturing
  • Parts are bolted, pinned, or otherwise affixed directly to the pallet surface
  • Part geometry or fixturing methods vary from job to job
  • Each pallet is typically dedicated to a specific part or setup

Best suited for: Custom fixturing, non-standard geometries, and applications where flexibility in mounting matters more than standardization.

When should I use the Pallet Cleat?

Select the Pallet Cleat when repeatability, precision, and standardization are the priority.

  • Currently relying on, or looking into, 96mm pull stud pallets for accurate, repeatable part transfer
  • Seeking to leverage a wide ecosystem of proven, standardized pallet fixtures, vises, and accessories
  • Production workflows benefit from consistent setups across multiple pallets
  • Parts are hand-fixtured once and run predictably during unattended operation

Best suited for: Structured, production-oriented pallet workflows where repeatability and customization are necessities.

What should I understand before choosing an RCX Pallet?
  • RCX Pallet workflows maintain fixed part orientation throughout the process
  • Pallet setups rely on manual fixturing prior to the automation run
  • Automatic part flipping is not supported with RCX Pallet
  • The system is designed for repeatable, unattended milling
